President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his government’s dedication to upholding the constitutional right to religious freedom as outlined in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. Represented by Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, the President spoke at the inauguration of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN) National Headquarters in Surulere, Lagos.
Tinubu emphasized that his administration remains focused on protecting religious liberties while calling on faith-based groups to foster national unity and tolerance. He praised the ADSN for its century-long impact on education, healthcare, and humanitarian efforts, noting that the government relies on such partnerships to build a compassionate society.
During the event, the President lauded Alhaji Femi Okunnu for funding the new secretariat in honor of his late mother. He praised the Okunnu family for their history of public service and integrity. Addressing the legacy of Alhaja Okunnu, the President remarked that the high character of her children serves as evidence of her virtue and wisdom.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Hamzat, encouraged the ADSN to continue prioritizing education and moral values. He warned against the growing trend of devaluing knowledge, noting that the society’s early efforts to integrate Western education for Muslim children remain vital to national progress.
ADSN National President, Alhaji Mosediq Kazeem, described the new headquarters as a milestone for the group’s 103-year history. He stated that the facility represents a commitment to future innovation and youth empowerment, affirming that the organization will keep supporting the state in developing responsible and patriotic citizens.
