The Hisbah Agency in Kebbi State has taken three young Qur’anic students, commonly referred to as Almajirai, into custody for reportedly possessing illicit drugs. Malam Sirajo Usman Kamba, the director in charge of Da’awa and Public Awareness, confirmed this incident during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Kamba, early findings indicate that the children, who are between 10 and 13 years old, hail from Maiyama Local Government Area in Kebbi and from Niger State. The agency is now probing the background of this case to identify how the minors became involved, while also examining the accountability of their guardians and instructors.
The agency expressed alarm regarding the increasing vulnerability of youth to dangerous substances and societal misconduct. Kamba promised that the board would implement necessary strategies to shield the children from harmful environments. He further emphasized the agency’s dedication to upholding ethical standards and protecting the well-being of all minors within the region. The accused individuals remain under agency supervision as the inquiry proceeds.
