The beloved indoor football competition, Tennent’s Soccer Sixes, is returning this year with a special legends edition featuring all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs. Supported by the SPFL, the event is scheduled for October 3 and 4 at Braehead Arena and will be shown on Premier Sports.
Saturday will host the group stages, where the top two finishers from three four-team groups, along with the strongest third-place squads, will advance to the knockout rounds. The tournament rules dictate that every match must produce a result, with penalty shootouts deciding draws and a sin bin rule active throughout play.
Historically, the Sixes were a major feature of Scottish football between 1984 and 1993, often hosted at the Kelvin Hall. Clubs historically treated the event with great competitiveness, frequently fielding star players like John Collins. While Partick Thistle won the final iteration of the original series in 1993, they will not participate in this revival as they currently compete in the Scottish Championship.
