At least 10 people have died after a train collided with a minibus crossing railway tracks in Egypt.

One child is in critical condition, and 10 others are injured following the crash along the Qantara East-Bir al-Abd line near the Suez Canal on Thursday, March 13.

Photos from the scene show the mangled remains of a red minibus beside the railway tracks in Ismailia province, east of Cairo.

Reports from local media indicate that the minibus, which was carrying children returning home from nursery, had crossed the tracks at an unofficial crossing at the time of the accident.
