A fatal incident occurred on Friday morning when a truck flipped over on the Kara Bridge heading toward Mowe-Ibafo, resulting in one death, two injuries, and a major traffic jam. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) dispatched a response team at 5:46 a.m. to manage the situation.
Upon arrival, responders discovered a truck transporting monosodium glutamate lying on its side and obstructing most of the road. Officials attributed the crash to brake failure, which caused the driver to lose control. The accident triggered a secondary pile-up involving four additional vehicles: a Toyota Sienna, a mini paint truck, a flatbed vehicle carrying plywood, and another truck. Spilled cargo from these vehicles further complicated the scene.
Emergency teams recovered the body of an adult male found trapped under the overturned truck and transferred him to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Two other men received medical care for minor injuries. LASEMA is working alongside the FRSC, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow. Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and commended the collaborative response of the agencies involved.
