The family of Alhaji Aminu Alkali, the unwell Deputy Governor of Taraba State, has publicly praised Governor Agbu Kefas for his consistent assistance during the deputy governor’s long-term health crisis. Addressing reporters in Jalingo on Wednesday, the official’s eldest son, Mallam Ibrahim Aminu Alkali, refuted online rumors suggesting the Governor had forsaken his deputy.
Ibrahim noted that his father’s health has improved steadily over the past two years, thanking both divine intervention and the Governor’s dedication. He emphasized that the Governor’s financial backing for medical bills and his personal check-ins have been vital. According to Ibrahim, the deputy governor received initial care in Nigeria, followed by specialized treatment in Egypt, and is now undergoing follow-up assessments in Abuja with positive results.
Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary for the Deputy Governor’s office, Alhaji Usman Madu, confirmed that all official entitlements remain current. He stated that the Governor has consistently prioritized and approved all medical-related requests without hesitation. Ibrahim urged politicians to stop using his father’s health as a tool for political maneuvering, given the high level of care provided by the state administration. This comes as discussions continue regarding the deputy governor’s absence from public duties since November 2024.
