Six Arrested for Illegal Waste Dumping on Old Abeokuta Expressway
The Lagos State Government has arrested six individuals for illegally dumping refuse on a road median along Old Abeokuta Expressway, directly opposite the Total filling station in Agege.
The arrests were made on the evening of Wednesday, July 2, during a coordinated enforcement operation by the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force in collaboration with officials from the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, shared the update via his verified X handle, stating that the suspects were caught red-handed disposing waste indiscriminately.
Those apprehended include Khalifa Mohammed, Sanusi Bello, Monsuru Salisu, Uzor Michael, Michael Obi, and Ajoke Shobande.
Wahab emphasized that the offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with Lagos State’s environmental laws, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal waste disposal. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a cleaner and more hygienic environment for residents.
