A teenager has passed away at the Kendal Calling music festival in Cumbria, according to local authorities. The 17-year-old experienced a medical emergency at approximately 02:15 BST and was confirmed dead shortly thereafter.
Cumbria Police have opened an investigation into the matter. Officials are specifically requesting information from anyone present near the Big Wheel or the Calling Out tent during those early morning hours. Detectives are especially interested in interviewing a group of women who initially flagged down emergency responders because they were worried about the girl’s health. Her family has been notified and is currently receiving assistance from specially trained officers.
Representatives for the festival stated that their staff is cooperating fully with the ongoing police inquiry. According to the festival organizers, on-site medical and security personnel responded instantly to provide emergency aid. Despite the comprehensive efforts of paramedics on the scene, the girl could not be saved.
