Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Senator for Sokoto South, has voiced deep concern regarding the surge of violence by armed groups within Sokoto State. He is urging a more unified strategy to tackle the escalating security threats throughout the North-West region.
Through a press release on Wednesday, the former governor highlighted recent tragedies in the Sabon Birni, Shagari, and Kebbe Local Government Areas. These regions have suffered from abductions, the killing of citizens, and the theft of livestock, which has forced many families to flee their homes.
Tambuwal specifically honored the late ASP Hussaini Balarabe, who lost his life while confronting bandits in Kebbe. The Senator praised the fallen officer’s bravery and dedication, extending his sympathies to the Nigeria Police Force and the officer’s grieving family.
The legislator emphasized that the persistent state of instability hampers local agriculture, commerce, and general public safety. While acknowledging the hard work of security forces, Tambuwal requested that the Federal Government bolster surveillance, intelligence, and emergency response capabilities in rural areas.
Finally, he called on community leaders and the public to cooperate with security agencies by sharing vital information. He insisted that the path toward peace requires a unified effort between citizens and the government to ensure those responsible for these crimes face the law.
