A joint security mission involving the Department of State Services, local vigilantes, and hunters successfully thwarted a coordinated assault in Bakori, Katsina State. The operation resulted in the deaths of over 60 suspected bandits, among them a prominent leader named Idi Abasu Aiki.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the bandits, numbering over 200, intended to target Guga village. Their goal was to retaliate against residents perceived as supporters of the local Community Watch Corps. The attackers included members associated with the Ado Aleru group from Zamfara State.
The security forces, acting on precise intelligence, prepared an ambush that caught the militants off guard. Along with Aiki, 14 other high-ranking commanders were killed in the encounter. While the mission was successful in stopping the assault, four individuals from the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and the local hunter group lost their lives during the fighting. Following the clash, authorities conducted a sweep of the region, where they discovered various weapons abandoned by the fleeing gunmen.
