Sanwo-Olu Praises Federal Security Efforts Following Rescue of Oriire Captives

Governor Sanwo-Olu credits President Tinubu’s administration for the successful recovery of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State after 55 days.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that the liberation of kidnapped students and educators in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area highlights President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to national safety. In an announcement released Saturday via his aide Gboyega Akosile, the Governor lauded the President and various military units for the operation that concluded a 55-day ordeal for those taken on May 15, 2026.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the joint success of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, DSS, and the Police. He remarked that this mission signals a firm federal stance against criminal threats. Emphasizing his support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Sanwo-Olu noted that the safe return of the hostages brings renewed optimism to the South-West region and the families impacted by the incident.
