A series of Russian ballistic missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv and its surrounding districts has resulted in two deaths and left at least 21 individuals wounded. The offensive, which began shortly after midnight on Wednesday, triggered air raid sirens for over sixty minutes.
Timur Tkachenko, leader of the Kyiv military administration, reported that the region faced a massive assault. Fatalities were confirmed in Kyiv and the nearby city of Bucha. Regional officials noted that impact sites include the Brovary, Fastiv, and Bucha districts, where authorities are currently documenting the destruction.
Vitali Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv, expressed concern that citizens might be buried beneath the wreckage of buildings in the city center. Officials condemned the targeting of civilian zones, while authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant during air alerts.
This escalation follows a period of heightened hostilities. Recent Ukrainian strikes have hit Russian civilian infrastructure, including warehouses belonging to the company Wildberries and energy facilities. Both nations have consistently denied intentionally aiming at non-combatants. As the conflict persists, Ukraine has requested additional US-made Patriot interceptors to bolster its air defense systems.
