Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni has asserted that Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential hopeful for the Nigerian Democratic Congress, is being targeted by political persecution. During Monday’s episode of The Morning Show, Oseni made these remarks while discussing the recent controversy involving Obi’s alleged breach of airport parking rules.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo recently demanded an apology from Obi for the parking incident. However, Oseni dismissed these claims, arguing that observers would have to be willfully ignorant not to recognize the pattern of political bias against the politician. He pointed to instances where Keyamo reportedly ignored more severe airport security breaches, such as the widely publicized incident involving musician KWAM 1.
Oseni further supported his argument by referencing a statement made by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo in August 2025. The Governor had warned Obi against visiting the state without prior security authorization. Oseni highlighted this event as clear evidence of the systemic pressure and hostility directed toward the opposition figure.
