Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni has challenged the leadership of the Nigeria Revenue Service regarding recent remarks made by Chairman Adedeji. During an appearance on the Channels Television program Sunday Politics, Adedeji praised President Bola Tinubu for eliminating fuel subsidies. He claimed that failing to remove the subsidy would have cost the nation N53 trillion and caused the exchange rate to skyrocket to N3,500 per dollar.
Adedeji further noted that monthly state allocations saw a significant increase, climbing from approximately N700 billion to N4.5 trillion. In response to these assertions, Oseni took to social media on Monday to critique the NRS head. Oseni argued that the discourse is incomplete without considering the impact of inflation on the public. He specifically called for an account of the financial losses citizens suffered due to the 15.91 percent inflation rate recorded in June 2026. This is not the first time Adedeji has faced public scrutiny; he was previously criticized for suggesting that President Tinubu walks to his office and limits himself to one meal a day.
