Arise Television personality Rufai Oseni has strongly criticized Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, following his recent statement denying the severity of hunger within Nigeria. During Wednesday’s broadcast of the ‘Morning Show’, Oseni questioned the aide’s perspective, demanding he swear that the frequency of citizens asking him for financial assistance has not risen since the current administration took office.
Onanuga previously stated in a separate interview that he disagrees with claims regarding widespread hunger, asserting that government programs like infrastructure development, student loan schemes, and worker credit facilities have provided significant relief to the populace. Dismissing these views as uninformed, Oseni accused the presidential spokesman of being disconnected from the daily struggles faced by everyday Nigerians. He maintained that the widespread suffering currently reported by citizens is an undeniable reality that contradicts the government’s optimistic narrative.
