Rodri Faces Potential Transfer Choice Between Barcelona and Real Madrid

Manchester City star Rodri must decide whether to sign a new deal or pursue interest from Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona as he enters the final year of his contract.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is currently weighing his options as his contract at the Etihad Stadium approaches its final year. The 29-year-old, who recently earned the title of tournament MVP after leading Spain to World Cup victory, has yet to agree to an extension with the Premier League champions.

While Real Madrid has long been linked to the player, recent reports suggest that Barcelona has also emerged as a potential suitor, though representatives for the Catalan side have downplayed this interest. Rodri is currently recovering from back surgery following a period of persistent injury troubles last season.

City officials maintain they expect him to be part of the squad for the upcoming season, noting that any departure would require a significant transfer fee. Should he choose to leave, he could join a growing list of compatriots at Barcelona or perhaps reunite with former teammate Bernardo Silva at Real Madrid. Having built an impressive legacy at City since 2019, including four league titles and a Champions League trophy, his exit would create a substantial gap in the midfield that the club would struggle to bridge, despite potential replacements like Mateo Kovacic or incoming youth talent.
