Reuben Abati, a presenter on Arise News, has asserted that Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, needs to resign for bringing disgrace to the Nigerian administration. During his appearance on the Morning Show this Thursday, Abati questioned the competency of the civil service under her leadership regarding the validation of documents for agency creation and staff deployment.
His comments follow an admission from Walson-Jack that her office failed to perform adequate checks during the establishment of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, known as the PFIPC. Abati argued that this administrative failure highlights deep-seated inefficiencies and demands a wide-ranging audit of all government entities.
Abati noted that in many other nations, such a public admission of professional negligence would trigger an immediate resignation. He expressed concern that the civil service granted personnel to the PFIPC and its supposed Director-General, Adeyemi Adeniyi, without verifying the existence of an Establishment Act. He cautioned that this incident raises fears about the potential number of other government bodies currently operating on fraudulent documentation, calling the situation a national humiliation.
