The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has officially rejected allegations suggesting its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has campaigned for the ruling government. In a statement released Tuesday, the organization emphasized that the cleric remains strictly neutral in political affairs.
According to the church, Pastor Adeboye encourages congregants to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in elections by choosing candidates they personally support. He does not endorse specific political parties. Regarding a canceled protest, the church clarified that Pastor Adeboye simply relayed instructions from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). The PFN had requested that churches shift their three-day prayer programs to a centralized location to include a rally.
The church also dismissed claims that its leader ignores national issues. It asserted that Pastor Adeboye frequently addresses topics such as corruption, economic instability, and the necessity for ethical governance through prayer and moral guidance rather than political agitation. The statement concluded by warning that the church will not accept the spread of inaccurate narratives as truth.
