Dr. Dennis Otuaro, who heads the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), recently confirmed that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to reducing the skill gap in the Niger Delta by investing in education. Otuaro shared this update during an Abuja meeting with representatives from Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) based in the United Kingdom.
The university delegation included Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Nana Adom, along with Eve Flower and Linda Ayodele. Otuaro emphasized that the president views schooling as a primary catalyst for regional progress and youth empowerment. Currently, the PAP supports 9,000 students across Nigerian institutions, with an additional 273 students pursuing degrees in the United Kingdom.
Specifically, Anglia Ruskin University is hosting 69 PAP alumni and 28 current scholarship recipients, with 36 new students recently added. Otuaro highlighted the success of the program, noting that more than 50 participants have achieved first-class honors, while 40 others earned second-class upper degrees. Dr. Adom praised the academic dedication of the students, noting that the university intends to further solidify its collaborative relationship with the PAP.
