President Bola Tinubu has expressed satisfaction regarding the safe recovery of 308 individuals who were recently kidnapped in Kwara and Niger states. He labeled the mission a major victory in the national effort to improve security.
A combined operation by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the military, the Department of State Services, and the police successfully liberated 163 residents of Kwara’s Woro community and 145 captives from Niger State. This effort, conducted within the Kainji Lake National Park Forest, marks the largest one-day rescue operation achieved by the joint task force.
The President extended his gratitude to the security forces for their bravery and cooperation. He noted that the operation highlights the improved synergy among national security agencies. The rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical checkups at the Wawa Cantonment before being returned to their families.
Looking forward, President Tinubu urged security officials to fortify the national defense infrastructure. He specifically ordered the immediate upgrading of early warning systems and the implementation of better community-based intelligence strategies to preempt future threats. The administration reiterated its pledge to secure vulnerable regions and foster lasting stability throughout the country.
