President Bola Tinubu welcomed two Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) figures, Rufai Hanga and Kabiru Gaya, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja this past Sunday. The meeting was arranged by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.
Reports indicate that both politicians from Kano State intend to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming week. Hanga had previously failed to secure a senatorial ticket and a deputy governorship position within the NDC. His departure follows a reported lack of support from NDC vice presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Similarly, Gaya’s bid for the Kano South senatorial seat ended unsuccessfully when a consensus candidate was selected by Kwankwaso’s faction. Prior to this villa visit, the two men held discussions with APC national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
