President Bola Tinubu has extended his warm wishes to Adewale Tinubu, the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, on the occasion of his 59th birthday, acknowledging his significant contributions to the Nigerian energy industry.
In a statement released by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, the President recognized the entrepreneur, often referred to as the African King of Oil, for his role in evolving Oando from a simple petroleum marketer into a diverse energy conglomerate spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.
The President highlighted the business leader’s success in generating employment for numerous Nigerians and noted his pivotal involvement in major initiatives, such as the acquisition of ConocoPhillips and the company’s dual listing on the Nigerian and South African stock exchanges.
Furthermore, President Tinubu praised the executive for his commitment to local content policies, which have encouraged indigenous participation in the oil and gas sector while emphasizing environmental responsibility. The President also highlighted the positive social influence of the Oando Foundation, established by Wale Tinubu in 2011 to foster community development and improve educational infrastructure in over 88 schools nationwide.
The President concluded by offering prayers for the health and prosperity of the business leader and his family.
