To guarantee impartial security coverage for the upcoming August 15 governorship vote in Osun State, Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu has assigned CP Erale Samuel Etaifo to lead election security efforts.
DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed on Friday that CP Etaifo will work alongside other security branches and key stakeholders. His mandate includes ensuring that all personnel strictly follow the Electoral Act and the established code of conduct for security officers.
Authorities have issued a warning to political participants and their supporters to maintain order. The command emphasized that comprehensive security plans are in place to safeguard the public, property, and voting materials throughout the election period. All officers have been instructed to act professionally and remain neutral toward every citizen regardless of their political ties.
The police stated that illegal activities such as vote buying, voter intimidation, misinformation, and violence will be punished severely. Residents are encouraged to follow the law and report any suspicious behavior to emergency lines to help maintain a credible and transparent election.
