Peter Obi Urges President Tinubu to Resign Amid Governance Concerns

Peter Obi has formally demanded the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, citing a failure to address severe economic and security challenges facing Nigeria.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has formally requested that President Bola Tinubu step down from office. Obi claims the administration has failed to resolve the nation’s escalating security and economic crises.

The demand follows the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which Obi highlighted as an example of public accountability. He noted that Starmer left his post due to rising costs of living, economic stagnation, and failure to meet campaign goals. Obi pointed out that Tinubu himself previously urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign in 2015 due to similar issues, such as the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls and economic instability.

Obi reminded the public that President Tinubu campaigned on promises to improve electricity, reduce corruption, and boost national welfare during the 2023 election cycle. He argued that these conditions have worsened under the current administration, citing widespread kidnapping, power shortages, and failing infrastructure. Asserting that a resignation would foster a culture of responsibility, Obi stated that leaders must be held accountable for their performance to ensure a stronger democratic future for the country.
