Oyo State Government Razes Ibadan Market Amid Security Crackdown

Citing its use as a criminal hideout, the Oyo State Government demolished a market in Ibadan just one week after tearing down a house linked to kidnappers.

Authorities in Oyo State leveled a market located at Mobil on Ring Road, Ibadan, this past Monday. Officials stated the decision was made because the site had transformed into a refuge for criminal elements.

This action occurs exactly one week after officials pulled down a residential house in the Lako area near Aiyegun-Anaye road. That specific property was allegedly utilized by kidnappers who abducted the sister of Adebayo Adelabu, the former Minister of Power, along with her children.

In response to these events, the state government is urging property owners and residents to exercise extreme caution and immediately notify authorities of any unusual behavior in their neighborhoods. State officials emphasized their ongoing dedication to a policy of zero tolerance regarding public safety threats.

These enforcement efforts follow recent bandit attacks that resulted in the kidnapping of numerous students and educators. Tragically, one instructor was murdered while being held, and many victims remain in captivity as of this writing.
