Oyo Police Apprehend 11 LAUTECH Students Over Planned Cult Attack

Oyo State Police arrested 11 LAUTECH students linked to the Eiye Confraternity, successfully preventing a planned attack after seizing various weapons.

The Oyo State Police Command recently took 11 individuals into custody at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso. All of those arrested are currently students enrolled at the school. Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the operation in a statement released in Ibadan this past Saturday.

According to Ayanlade, the suspects belong to the Eiye Confraternity. Authorities were alerted to their activities through reliable intelligence, allowing the Violent Crime Response Unit to intervene before the group could carry out their intended violence against the student population. The suspects were tracked to hideouts in the Under-G, Yuako, and Adenike areas.

Officers seized a variety of dangerous weapons during the arrests. Confiscated items included four locally made cut-to-size pistols, 11 live cartridges, one expended cartridge, two axes, a cutlass, a dagger, and a red hooded cap associated with the group.
