Oyo abductees undergoing health checks before transfer to Governor Makinde, Presidency confirms

Rescued students and teachers from Ogbomoso are currently receiving medical care and will soon be turned over to Governor Seyi Makinde, according to the Presidency.

The Presidency announced on Saturday that the teachers and students saved from the Oriire region in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, are presently receiving medical evaluations. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, clarified that the individuals will be released to Governor Seyi Makinde once these health assessments conclude.

President Bola Tinubu celebrated the accomplishment, applauding the military, the police, and the DSS for their dedication over the 56-day ordeal. He noted that security personnel achieved the rescue without collateral damage while capturing eight suspects and neutralizing others. The President shared his sympathy for the suffering experienced by the victims and their families throughout the period.

Highlighting the need for safety, President Tinubu encouraged the Oyo State administration to bolster security measures near local schools. He vowed that his administration would pursue justice for the victims and specifically addressed the death of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the perpetrators.
