Osun Police mediate campaign rally conflict between Accord and APC

The Osun State Police Command has mediated a schedule agreement between the Accord party and the APC to ensure peaceful final campaign rallies ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The Osun State Police Command has successfully mediated a dispute between the Accord party and the All Progressives Congress regarding the scheduling of their final gubernatorial campaign events. Commissioner of Police for Elections, Samuel Erale Etaifo, led a meeting on Friday to resolve scheduling overlaps that threatened to cause friction before the August 15 election.

Representing the command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed that the parties reached a consensus in a cooperative setting. Accord will stage its final rally at Fakunle, Osogbo, on Wednesday, August 12. The APC is scheduled for its concluding rally at Freedom Park, Osogbo, on Thursday, August 13. This separation of dates and locations aims to maintain order.

CP Etaifo praised the political leaders for their display of maturity. He called on all parties to manage their supporters to prevent unrest throughout the electoral period. The police force reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality and warned that any individuals engaging in intimidation, thuggery, or violence will face legal consequences. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to local authorities.
