Authorities in Nasarawa State have taken 30-year-old Musbawu Amodu into custody following the death of his 20-year-old wife in Angwan Yahaya, Agyaragu. The tragic event took place on July 12, 2026, after police received a report regarding a fatal physical assault.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Rahman Nansel confirmed that officers arrived at the location shortly after the report. The victim was transported to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia. The couple, who had been married for six years, leaves behind two children.
During questioning, Amodu reportedly admitted to the killing. He stated that the confrontation began as a disagreement over the preparation of a meal, which then spiraled into a lethal physical fight. Despite his stated remorse, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has moved the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a formal inquiry.
Commissioner Mohammed condemned the violence, calling for families to prioritize communication and patience during conflicts. He emphasized that the suspect will face legal proceedings once the investigation concludes. Local law enforcement maintains that the area remains secure as they continue their work.
