Alhaji Kazeem Oyewale, widely known as Ashiri Eniba, has officially taken charge as the new Caretaker Chairman of the Osun State Council for the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers. He declared that tranquility has been restored to the state’s transport hubs following the settlement of a persistent internal power struggle.
The union had previously faced significant instability due to a conflict between the camps of Oyewale and Nurudeen Wakili, also called Alowonle. This unrest caused widespread protests, public disorder, and the eventual suspension of park operations by local authorities. Despite resistance from the Osun State government, the union’s national leadership moved forward with the appointment and inauguration of Oyewale’s executive team in Abuja.
Addressing the public on Saturday, Oyewale emphasized that commercial drivers are responsible individuals rather than criminals. He invited all estranged members to rejoin the fold and expressed a desire for a productive relationship with the state government. He also requested that the police finish their inquiries into casualties sustained during the prior violence.
Interim Secretary Ayinde Mutiu echoed these sentiments, confirming that daily operations at motor parks are set to normalize. Both leaders urged union members to maintain order and focus on peaceful professional activities moving forward.
