Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the electorate in Osun will reject any attempts to manipulate the upcoming governorship election. During a recent campaign event, the Governor emphasized that citizens are prepared to turn out in large numbers and protect their ballots.
Speaking as the state’s Chief Security Officer, Adeleke expressed deep concern regarding the current security climate. He alleged that local police forces have been compromised and are failing to address rising violence, specifically mentioning recent killings. He urged the President to take notice of these grievances, noting that the state has already declared its support for his administration.
Adeleke further called for an end to the intimidation and questioned the administration’s treatment of the state’s resources. He specifically asked that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola be cautioned to prevent further instability. Referencing the political crisis of 1993, the Governor pleaded with the President to ensure that the August 15 election remains free, fair, and peaceful to avoid a recurrence of past national unrest.
