Oshiomhole Criticizes NNPCL for Arrogance Regarding Budget Presentations

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has challenged the NNPCL for its perceived arrogance, pointing out that even the President personally presents the national budget to the legislature.

Adams Oshiomhole, the Senator representing Edo North, recently argued that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited acts as if it is superior to the national governance structure. During a legislative committee hearing, the Senator reminded the company that it functions as a government agency, not an independent entity.

Oshiomhole highlighted that even President Bola Tinubu personally fulfills his constitutional duties by addressing the National Assembly for budget presentations, rather than sending subordinates. He argued that if the head of state respects the legislative process by appearing before lawmakers, a state-owned oil firm should certainly follow suit. The Senator expressed frustration with the company’s dismissive attitude toward elected representatives, asserting that no institution should view itself as greater than the government system itself.
