Senator Orji Uzor Kalu recently stated that President Bola Tinubu is unlikely to face serious obstacles during the 2027 presidential race. The former Abia State governor argued that the opposition remains too divided to mount an effective campaign against the current administration.
Speaking on Channels Television, Kalu noted that the lack of unity among rival political parties has bolstered the All Progressives Congress. He highlighted President Tinubu’s infrastructure projects and widespread party membership as key factors favoring a second term. While he suggested the opposition would be more dangerous if they merged, he pointed out that current internal fractures keep the ruling party secure.
Kalu also addressed the administration’s public relations efforts, suggesting that Tinubu has failed to effectively promote his achievements. Despite this, he credited the President with completing roughly 65 percent of his goals, predicting that approval ratings will climb higher by late 2024. Furthermore, Kalu dismissed the influence of the President’s critics and projected that northern voters would eventually back the incumbent. These comments emerge as various political alliances, involving figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, continue to fluctuate due to leadership disputes.
