Law enforcement officers from the Sagamu Division of the Ogun State Police Command have neutralized a criminal group involved in cattle rustling. The police operation took place in the Maskoli region of the local government area, resulting in the successful recovery of six stolen livestock.
Authorities took two men into custody: 35-year-old Abiodun Kamilu and 37-year-old Adesanya Segun. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated on Tuesday that officers also confiscated a blue Nissan Cabster bus suspected of being used for the illegal activities.
The investigation began after a distress call on Saturday alerted the police to a theft at a cow yard in Maskoli, where seven animals had been taken. Following the report, officers quickly established patrols along various escape routes. They intercepted a vehicle on the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway, leading to the arrests and the recovery of the cattle and the transport vehicle.
Police are still working to track down remaining suspects and recover the seventh cow. Officials have encouraged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to help assist law enforcement efforts.
