Officers from the Ogun State Police Command have captured three individuals accused of diverse crimes across Ago-Iwoye, Mowe, and Warewa. These arrests stem from ongoing intelligence-gathering initiatives and localized community security efforts.
The individuals in custody are identified as 26-year-old cult leader Ewebiyi Afeez, 32-year-old armed robbery suspect Segun Ona Anjo, and Umar Sulaiman, who was caught dismantling stolen machinery. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command spokesperson, confirmed that these operations successfully halted a planned cult initiation and prevented a mob from attacking a suspect.
Police teams in Mowe targeted the Eiye Confraternity, arresting Afeez before his group could finalize new recruitments. Meanwhile, in Ago-Iwoye, officers intervened during a violent robbery where a motorcyclist was struck with a hammer. Local residents helped detain Anjo before police could secure the scene. Additionally, detectives in Warewa arrested Sulaiman for receiving a 10KVA generator worth ₦650,000, which had been illicitly sold for only ₦15,000.
Authorities have recovered the stolen motorcycle, the hammer utilized in the assault, and several generator components. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni issued a stern warning to criminals operating within the state while urging citizens to continue sharing vital tips with law enforcement.
