Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team from the Ogun State Police Command have detained 43 individuals as the Operation Kosaye initiative continues. This latest sweep focused on a criminal hotspot near the Isheri-Olofin area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically targeting a site opposite the Kara Cattle Market.
The operation, which took place late on Tuesday, July 7, involved a mix of 28 men and 15 women. According to Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, authorities received tips regarding the location being used for prostitution, drug distribution, and cult activities. Led by CSP Murphy, the team recovered a variety of items during the search, including mobile phones, power banks, personal identification documents, and narcotics such as Indian hemp and ‘Loud’.
This development follows a large-scale exercise in June where 84 suspects were taken into custody across Ogun, Lagos, and the Oyo State border. Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni praised the SWAT unit for their discipline and success in this mission. He emphasized that the state remains committed to dismantling criminal strongholds and urged the public to keep reporting suspicious activities to assist in maintaining regional security.
