On Saturday evening, July 26, 2026, officers from the Ogun State Police Command prevented a kidnapping near Onigaari on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The event began around 7:10 p.m. when the Safer Highway Patrol Team, conducting a standard patrol, detected gunfire nearby.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, confirmed that the officers acted quickly. Their arrival pressured the attackers to leave the victim behind and escape into the nearby forest. The victim, who remained physically unharmed, was transported to the Ogunmakin Police Post with their vehicle for security processing.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the officers for their brave and professional performance. He emphasized that the force is committed to maintaining regional safety through increased patrols and better intelligence.
