Members of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, frequently called the Amotekun Corps, successfully freed two Fulani herders who had been taken captive. The rescued individuals, Abubakar Umaru and Abdulahi Umaru, were seized by kidnappers while tending to their livestock near the Owo area along the Ondo-Edo state border.
Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander for Amotekun, explained that his team initiated an immediate operation once the parents of the victims provided notification regarding their disappearance. Officers tracked the missing youths into a dense forested region known as Abuja Forest, which spans the territory between Ondo and Edo states in Owo Local Government.
Following an extensive search of the woodland, the security team located the captors’ hideout and liberated the boys. The perpetrators managed to escape the scene after realizing the area was surrounded by security forces.
