Ogun PDP Chairman Abayomi Tella warns against electing outside candidates in 2027

Ogun State PDP chairman Abayomi Tella urges voters to reject external governorship candidates in 2027, advocating for local leaders who understand the state’s needs.

Abayomi Tella, the Ogun State PDP chairman, has called on citizens to resist the selection of gubernatorial candidates from outside the region for the 2027 elections. During a recent interview on Eagle 102.5 FM, Tella emphasized that local leadership is vital, as it ensures governors truly grasp the state’s culture, history, and unique obstacles.

Highlighting the party’s ‘Ogun for Ogun’ initiative, Tella argued that effective governance requires deep local roots. He asserted that a homegrown leader would prioritize qualified state residents for government roles rather than relying on external associates. According to Tella, those lacking a history in Ogun may not possess the same dedication to its progress.

The chairman cautioned voters to remain vigilant against ‘impostors’ and encouraged them to exercise their political awareness by rejecting candidates who lack authentic ties to the state. Furthermore, Tella addressed inquiries regarding Senator Iyabo Obasanjo’s party status, confirming that her transition into the PDP strictly adhered to the regulations set by the Electoral Act.
