Zacch Adedeji, the head of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), recently countered allegations that President Bola Tinubu maintains a lavish lifestyle. Speaking during a Sunday interview on Channels Television, Adedeji addressed public concerns regarding government spending during a period of economic difficulty.
Adedeji stated that the President frequently commutes to his office on foot rather than relying on a motorcade, except when heading to the airport. Furthermore, the NRS chairman noted that Tinubu limits his food intake to one meal daily and has remained in Nigeria for the past three months to focus on his administrative duties.
Regarding reports of expensive vehicles in the presidential convoy, such as Escalades, Adedeji suggested that such assets are standard for the office of the President. He emphasized that the President has not spent time abroad on holidays, nor has he been seen at social gatherings, citing this as proof of his dedication to his professional role. Adedeji urged the public to view the President’s actions as evidence of a disciplined rather than an extravagant lifestyle.
