The Nigerian Navy has moved five individuals linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network to the Anambra State Command of the Department of State Services for deeper inquiry.
Naval spokesperson Abiodun Folorunsho confirmed that officers from the Naval Outpost in Onitsha apprehended the group near the Amiyi base. The arrest followed intelligence gathering regarding illicit operations occurring within the Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Early reports suggest one detainee held a leadership role for the organization in the region, while the others provided support. Officials also identified specific sites used by the suspects for recruitment and strategic planning.
The Navy stated that this transfer aligns with standard inter-agency protocols. The operation reflects a broader strategy by the military to partner with civil security branches to mitigate extremism and restore order across Nigeria.
