Nigerian Army thwarts bandit raid in Sokoto village

Nigerian Army soldiers successfully prevented a bandit attack in Asarara village, Sokoto State, protecting residents and their livestock from theft.

Soldiers from the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army successfully repelled a group of armed bandits in Asarara village, located in the Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The militants had intended to abduct locals and steal livestock during the raid.

A security insider confirmed that the military engaged the attackers in a heated gunfight on Wednesday, causing the outlaws to flee the area. Many of the criminals reportedly suffered gunshot injuries during the retreat, ultimately moving toward the Gwangi riverside. The timely intervention of the military forces ensured the safety of the residents and prevented the loss of their property.

Local authorities highlighted that the victory was made possible through strong cooperation from the community members, who provided critical intelligence. Military officials are now maintaining heightened security measures to protect the region and have encouraged citizens to stay alert, particularly those residing in agricultural zones.
