Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a woman found in possession of live ammunition suspected to be headed for bandits in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The woman whose identity has not been disclosed was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Tsafe–Gusau highway on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
According to reports, the suspect, believed to be from Birnin Magaji LGA, concealed the ammunition in her luggage while travelling through the volatile route.

Confirming the arrest, Chairman of Tsafe LGA, Malam Garba Shehu, hailed the NDLEA operatives for what he described as a “major breakthrough” in efforts to intercept the movement of arms and logistics supplies to criminal groups in the region.
“I want to appreciate the NDLEA operatives for their vigilance and dedication. This arrest has prevented dangerous ammunition from reaching criminal elements threatening peace in our communities,” Shehu stated.
He further pledged continued collaboration with security agencies, warning that anyone aiding crime or banditry would face the full weight of the law.
“As a local government, we will continue to provide whatever support is necessary to ensure law enforcement officers carry out their duties effectively,” he added.

The NDLEA has since transferred the suspect to a secure facility for further investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to trace the source and destination of the intercepted ammunition.
The arrest comes amid heightened anti-crime operations across Tsafe, Birnin Magaji, and the Dansadau forest axis regions notorious for bandit activity and illicit arms trafficking in Zamfara State. tslanadallas of leaked
