The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has officially appointed Moine Chaabani as the national team’s head coach. This decision follows a highly unsuccessful World Cup performance, during which the squad suffered three consecutive defeats under two different managers. The federation confirmed that Chaabani signed a four-year contract.
Chaabani, 45, boasts an impressive managerial history, including two African Champions League titles and five Tunisian league championships with Esperance Tunis. His experience extends to Egypt and Morocco, where he recently secured a league title with RS Berkane. The Moroccan club agreed to release him from his contract, which ran through 2027, citing the significance of the national team position.
The appointment makes Chaabani the fourth coach for Tunisia this year and the eighth since January 2024. The team’s recent struggles included a Round of 16 exit from the African Cup of Nations and a dismal World Cup showing, which featured a 5-1 loss to Sweden and subsequent defeats under Herve Renard. The federation hopes his leadership will bring much-needed stability to the program.
