General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), the Minister of Defence, recently praised the modernization of Alaba International Market, labeling the hub a symbol of Nigerian ingenuity and economic strength. Speaking at a gala in Ikoyi, Lagos, held to reveal the ‘New Face of Alaba,’ he noted that the new commercial infrastructure signals a significant shift for the electronics and technology sector.
Musa honored the International Market Association Electronics (IMAE) leadership, including President-General High Chief Dr. Camilus Nnamdi Amajuoyi, and recognized Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their roles in this progress. The minister emphasized that Alaba is no longer just a trading post but a vital engine for job creation and technological advancement. He specifically lauded initiatives to combat counterfeit goods and promote high-quality, locally produced items.
The Federal Government remains dedicated to ensuring a secure business climate, Musa stated, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his focus on national stability. Representing Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat highlighted the state’s plan to upgrade the road infrastructure leading to the market to boost accessibility. The event, which also celebrated individuals who have significantly contributed to the market’s growth, underscored a decades-long partnership between the IMAE and the Nigerian Army.
