Members of Operation HADIN KAI have taken a soldier into custody who was previously labeled wanted by the Nigerian Army for reportedly providing insurgent groups in the North-East with military attire.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the details on social media. The individual, identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Lagos-based Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility, was caught around 6:30 pm on July 25, 2026. The 7 Provost Group, directed by their Acting Commander, managed the operation.
Reports indicate that the soldier left his post without authorization on July 7, 2026, and relocated to Maiduguri to avoid detection. During his time in hiding, he was reportedly hosted in the Jere region of Borno State by another soldier, Private Baba Kamal Sale.
Military units utilized gathered intelligence to monitor the suspect’s movements. He was eventually captured at Jidari Bus Stop as he appeared to be heading toward the Cameroon border. The suspect remains held by the 7 Provost Group for intense questioning regarding his dealings with terrorist organizations. Authorities view this capture as a major step toward uncovering internal collaborators supporting extremist violence.
