Soldiers participating in Operation Enduring Peace have killed an alleged bandit during a security operation in Jos South, Plateau State. Counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the mission began at 7:00 a.m. on June 26 following intelligence regarding livestock thieves near the Gero high grounds.
The unit encountered a herd of cattle trespassing on local crops and moved to intercept them. During this process, the soldiers faced gunfire from militia members. The troops held their ground and requested backup, which arrived from Sector 3 at Rafin Bauna and was led by the Commander of Sector 6. This reinforcements successfully engaged the attackers, resulting in the death of one suspect while others escaped.
Authorities recovered two mobile phones and 14,000 Naira left behind by the fleeing group. The cattle were relocated to a secure site, and military patrols continue throughout the region to prevent future violence.
