Matawalle Claims Recent Court Ruling Vindicates President Tinubu Regarding Judicial Independence

Mohammed Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, argues that a recent judicial decision regarding the ADC leadership proves President Tinubu upholds judicial independence and avoids political interference.

Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Matawalle, asserts that a recent High Court ruling upholding the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) serves as evidence that President Bola Tinubu does not influence the judiciary. Speaking in Kaduna, Matawalle stated that this outcome demonstrates the President’s adherence to democratic standards and respect for the separation of powers.

The Abuja High Court dismissed a challenge against the ADC leadership under David Mark, confirming the party acted legally and constitutionally. Matawalle noted that the President’s decision to remain uninvolved in the proceedings confirms his dedication to the rule of law. He rejected accusations that Tinubu is attempting to establish a one-party state or manipulate legal outcomes, labeling such claims as misleading rhetoric from opposition members.

Regarding national security, the Minister highlighted the successes of Operation Fansan Yamma, which has successfully disrupted bandit camps and neutralized criminal leaders in the North-West. He reassured the public that the federal government is prioritizing the provision of necessary resources to the Armed Forces to continue these efforts and restore stability across the nation.
