Maresca, who succeeded Pep Guardiola in June, noted that the performance offered several positives, particularly regarding player fitness. He acknowledged areas for improvement, emphasizing that the team will progress gradually. During the first half, Divin Mubama gave City the lead from an Antoine Semenyo assist, but Benjamin Pavard equalized for Inter shortly after. Despite second-half efforts from Vitor Reis and Ryan McAidoo hitting the woodwork, the match finished level.
The manager highlighted that defensive pressing improved significantly following tactical adjustments at halftime. Maresca now faces the challenging task of following Guardiola’s highly successful tenure at the club. The current Asia tour continues without stars like Erling Haaland and Rodri, who will also miss upcoming matches in Seoul.
