Marc Guehi faces fitness race for 2026 World Cup quarter-final against Norway

England defender Marc Guehi is a doubt for the World Cup quarter-final against Norway due to a hamstring injury sustained against Mexico.

England’s preparations for their upcoming 2026 World Cup quarter-final against Norway have been hindered by an injury concern regarding Marc Guehi. The Manchester City defender, who sustained a hamstring strain during the victory against Mexico, is now considered a doubt for Saturday’s match.

During England’s concluding training session in Kansas City at the Swope Soccer facility, Guehi was restricted to walking along the perimeter of the field rather than participating with the rest of the squad. Despite this, England head coach Thomas Tuchel maintains a level of optimism regarding the player’s potential availability to start the fixture. Although the injury is not perceived to be severe, the tight timeline makes it increasingly difficult for the defender to demonstrate he is fully match-fit.
